Lake Avenue Community FoundationWhere:
712 E. Villa St. Pasadena, CA 91101
Mission:
Unleashing the God-given potential of at-risk youth,
providing the tools necessary to thrive academically,
emotionally, economically, and spiritually.
The
STARS program: takes a community-collaborative, asset
building approach to after-school programming to provide
PUSD students, primarily residing in NW Pasadena, an
obstacle-free opportunity to become college-educated,
responsible citizens of their community. By providing
academic support, enrichment opportunities and
family-strengthening activities, and by encouraging growing
and accountable relationships with positive adult role
models (tutors), we provide an environment where students
are challenged to grow towards becoming that which God
intended them to be. We work closely with the Mentoring
Program to grow tutoring relationships into mentoring
relationships, or simply to connect our students with
mentors.

The
Mentor program: exists to provide neighborhood students
in Pasadena an obstacle free opportunity to become
college-educated, responsible citizens of our community. By
establishing mentoring relationships with positive role
models, we focus on students at a convictional level, which
will bring about marked changes in a student’s identity, and
in turn affect their value system bringing about a positive
change in their behavior and lifestyle. We work in
partnership with the STARS tutoring program, Pasadena
Unified School District, Lake Avenue Church, and other
existing programs and ministries in our area to better
communicate and bring about change in the lives of our
students.
